WINTER WHIRLS ...

Just wanted to write for a moment. Not much to tell, which makes me think "I should have something to tell", yet I don't. I have times of constant chatter, then long pauses of silence. It's interesting though... as during both I am deep in thought. Extremes to one and other, yet akin in nature!!!
It snowed last night... caught us by surprise. The wind is howling, snow flurries whirling, and icy white landscaping. Once again - Happy Holidays World...

ANXIOUS & EXCITED

HI EVERYONE! I wanted to write because I'm excited about a small slab I just acquired. I'm also very anxious to see what will come through the stone. It's Sugilite with Richterite- a gorgeous purple with striking cornflower blue! I've posted two photos - one shows the beginning stages of one of the pieces I cut at the wheel... I'm loving it! and the 2nd photo was spare of the moment ... due to the weather my saw was brought inside... you see part of my living room/family room, entry way, kitchen, laundry room, and work space! Woohoo. Okay, back to the gemstone - I'll write again with a finished piece!

Forever & Unconditional

It is another snow day - although there's no snow falling the icy conditions have made it unsafe for school bus travel. Anyways, I am thinking about love, a parental type of love. My brother and I have discussed the question: Is it better to have known such a love, or to have never known it at all? I have only asked the question to one other person, as I have so few people in my life. First, my brother and I agreed at the time, we wished we had never known... and the person I inquired disagreed. I'm sure there are all kinds of opinions on the subject and for varied reasons, with many degrees of background. Do you ever get sick of thinking??? I do. Some have told me to "get a tougher skin", "go with the flow", "don't worry about it", or, one of my favorites "just relax". Isn't it something when the things that you want become reality, and you find it's not what you wanted at all? With this I am referring to others wanting change and when they get it... BOOHOO. There is ALWAYS a reaction ~ Example: if you want someone to get a thicker skin, toughen up, and they do, they might not hold you when you're sad, or send a card of congrats... 'cause who cares!? Once again, I'm sure there's varied degrees and I admit I'm an extremist. (to be continued) ...

SNOW DAY

It's a snow day... schools are closed, but tomorrow should be clear. I've been spending alot of time reorganizing and cleaning. A good thing... a necessity now. So how is your holiday spirit??? Mine's still missing, yet I'm feeling glad today and most definitely looking forward to the new year. I suppose I've been taught that a new year brings new beginnings, new opportunities and another chance at life ~ though I know that each day can be just that. I remember a time when my holiday shopping was done by Thanksgiving and sometimes shortly after ~ this year I have not even started. I have certainly been a creature of constant change, yet an individual always searching for calm, quiet, redundancy! Hmmm my mind is now riddled with rapid fire - combat - thoughts rebounding off of one and other... until next time... wishing you well... wishing you smiles...

WAITING~

A Short Take Update. Back to the DDS tomorrow following a week of meds. It's the absolute best when another can create a smile for you. Some people have the incredible gift to make you smile with a simple word, look, or note. Thanks to all of you that take the time, if even a few seconds, to share ...

OUCH!

Just writing a wee update. I've had a horrible toothache for the last 4 days which I'm hoping will be resolved tomorrow. I'm thinking a great deal about the coming holidays, yet am not feeling the excitement, nor warmth of the season. I do hope this passes, as I believe it can be a magical and tender time of year...
More to come... THANKS...
and HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL ~

Thank You Cynthia

This is me, well part of me, and the pieces I wear. I created the top pendant a few years ago and held onto it. It displays an Owyhee Blue Opal which I cut, shaped, polished and set. A wonderful individual, named Cynthia, requested a "sample" for a potential custom order with the use of one of my ripped hearts. This is when the second piece came into existence! It had been years since I created a piece for myself, and I'm so glad I did... here's a BIG THANKS going out to Cynthia - *** THANK YOU *** ~ I then decided I was going to keep a couple more!!! The last is two beach baby pendants paired together. One has a natural slanted cross within the stone, and the other reminded me of an Italian horn. There's something special about holding close a bit of yourself, and not always being the cobblers daughter that has no shoes ~
